We are all waiting for the sun eagerly and it will be here before we know it. Our furry friends love the outdoors even more than we do sometimes, but with that exposure comes fleas as insects are just as eager to emerge. Even if your kitty is indoors, as most are, they can still be susceptible, especially if they share the home with a sweet pooch. Here are a few tips you can follow to help keep your beloved pets safe from fleas this season.

Keep Them Clean

Cleanliness is not just for keeping your pets slick and smelling good, it can do wonders for keeping fleas off of your pet. Regular grooming for your furry friends will keep their skin and fur flea free since the soaps and conditioners provide a no-go environment for fleas and other insects. However, if you notice any irritated spots while cleaning them don't wait to consult with your vet since antibiotics can be prescribed to clear up any infection points which are very attractive to fleas.

Over The Counter

Always consult with your vet before introducing medicine to your pet, but the good thing is that most flea prevention products, as long as they don't contain additional heartworm medications, are available over the counter, so a quick fix and peace of mind is just a shopping trip away.

Keep Them Out

As mentioned above if your pet is indoor as most cats are, you will want to do what you can to keep fleas out entirely. The first route to go with is inspections and maintaining your yard if you have. Keeping the lawn mowed and hedges trimmed properly will do wonders to keep the pests away from your loved animals. When it comes to the indoors keep your pillows and rugs well dusted and fluffed cause that is where most fleas incubate when they are in the egg and larval stages. CONTACT US WITH ANY QUESTIONS!
