The Benefits of Boarding Your Feline Friend

Whether taking a few days, weeks or months away, there are many advantages to boarding your feline companion when out of town. We all know that cats are creatures of comfort, but the best way to make sure they're comfortable, is to make sure they're well cared for. Boarding your cat gives you the peace of mind knowing they are fed, clean, safe and with a loving "foster family" during your time away.

Keeping Cats at Home Has Its Disadvantages

Keeping cats at home when you're away may seem like the safest and easiest idea, but cats unsupervised for an extended period of time can cause chaos. Cats can get into trouble easily, squeezing into small places, wondering too high and even escaping. Also, if your cat gets anxious or bored when you're away, they may display some new behaviors that might put them in dangerous situations. Knowing your cat is being looked after, in a secure and safe space, takes the worry and the "what ifs" had they been home.

Feeding Fiascos

If you don't board your cat, you may opt to have someone come in and feed them, or even have a timed feeder go off. The problem with this approach is that some felines aren't comfortable with a new person coming into the home, let alone feeding them, which means they may skip meals which can cause a host of medical problems. Also, if your cat has never had an automatic feeder, they may find it overwhelming to have a machine doling out their food daily, which again leads to missed meals. When boarding, you have someone that can monitor your cat's weight and eating schedule and modify as necessary.

Unforeseen Circumstances

No pet owner wants to get a call that something tragic happened. When you board your pet, you know they are with trained professionals that are able to assist if an event arises. Boarding your pet could be the difference between a bad situation and a life-changing one.
